"Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs:
1) The future can be better than the present, and 2) I have the power to make it so" Lifehacks Newsletter. I want to help you be the most successful person you can be by helping you create a future with self-acceptance, independence, happiness, and strength. My experience includes working with a variety of clientele ranging from adults, children, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. I have worked with people who have various mental health difficulties including personality disorders, depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol addiction, and trauma. Additionally, I have experience in helping to enhance self-esteem, build boundaries, increase and explore relationships, identify role changes and development, help with life transitions, and many other underlying issues causing individuals, couples, and families distress within different aspects of their lives. I believe the best therapeutic experience lies between the therapist-client relationship. Therefore, I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches centering on the needs and personality of each individual client. By using a collaborative approach, I work with clients to build rapport based on trust, understanding, and a non-judgmental stance. I hold a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a substance abuse specialty. I have been providing mental health and substance abuse counseling since 2012. |

"Be there for others, but never leave yourself behind" - Dobinsky
It is not selfish to take care of yourself - it is necessary! My goal is to provide a safe, judgement-free space for you to talk about what is really going on for you. I believe it is important to hold space and take time out of our busy lives to slow down and evaluate how things are going. By figuring out what is working and what isn't working we gain more control over our lives by seeing our choices more clearly. I have a unique way of balancing what happened in the past with where we're going in the future. I have 20 years of experience working with adults with a variety of life situations: depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma/PTSD, pregnancy/prenatal & post partum mood disorders, divorce, domestic abuse, family conflicts, relationship issues... just to name a few. I enter my therapeutic relationships with a person-centered; strengths based treatment approach and tailor our work together based on your own individual needs and personality. |

Certified Substance Abuse Counselor "Whatever we think we believe. Whatever we believe becomes reality. Whatever is our reality becomes the basis for our hopes, fears and choices." Dhammapada. Sometimes the first step in improving our life situation is asking for help. But once that first step is taken, even if it is taken out of fear or desperation, our willingness to make changes can lead to lives filled with hope, joy and peace. My experience is with individuals who experience a variety of life problems, including addiction, and the issues that arise from those problems.
These issues may include losses, trauma, past/current abuse, homelessness, joblessness, depression and anxiety as well as a general inability to cope with what life is like for you now. Developing a therapeutic relationship is key. I believe that listening with an empathetic ear is a skill I can bring to whatever mode of treatment works best for you. |
